This is going to be a good week. This is going to be a good week. This is going to be a good week. Okay...the power of mental persuasion is going to be my saving grace this week. As all of my other friends look forward to the lax schedules that Spring Break brings I will be setting my kitchen timer to go off every 30 minutes. As I read all of their facebook posts journaling their families much thought out vacations, I will be, hopefully, secretly, celebrating the not so small achievements of my 7 year old. Yes, the week is finally here, I know you can just hear the unsurmounted joy in my voice, Potty Training Week! Of course I have been through this before, my 5 year old was the little overachiever. less than 3 days and he was a master. Things will be a little different this time. Things will be a little more, shall we say, interesting. As some of you know our older son, Ryan, has Down Syndrome, OCD, hyperactivity with impulsivity and was also born with a rare GI disorder that has kept us from potty training him until recently. I am not quite sure how all of this is going to play out. Do I have a game plan you ask? What self-respecting mother of a special needs child doesn't ALWAYS have a game plan?? Juice boxes, movies, lexapro and prayers. All stocked on the first 3, if you 'd like to throw a few of the latter my way it would be much appreciated;)
Okay, Coco. When first painting this piece (the brother of the meth lab desk) I was more than a little concerned after the first coat. It looked a lot like split pea soup and I was very skeptical that it wasn't going to turn out how I envisioned. Why, oh Why, did I ever doubt you Annie? I love it. I used old white as the accent color and then added clear and dark wax. Not too much dark, just enough to add some dimension and age. Sorry, I am not sure where my before pics are..I swear I took them..didn't I? Oh well, who can remember anything these days. Anyway here are some shots of the piece in my booth at Frisco Mercantile.
As mentally draining as I think this week is going to be for me I am so stoked for it to be here. (do people still say stoked?). I will be rewarded dearly for my motherly duties this week (no pun intended:). I am getting to meet Annie Sloan on Friday...whoop! I know, I am such a middle aged groupie but who cares. How lucky am I that she will be making a stop in Dallas and will be having the workshop just about 20 minutes from my house. Can't wait to get my paint on with Annie!!
Thanks for reading, here's hoping we ALL have a great week!!
