Just a few quick pics...

Hi All! Been MIA for awhile but still have been busy at work. Here are a few recent projects I have finished. I know they all tend to look the same after awhile. But hey, build it and they will come, is my motto...okay, in this case paint it! These combo's sell so well so I stick with what works. Excited for another big Canton shopping trip tomorrow. Will post any exciting finds. I do have amazing news that I hope to be sharing after the first of the year. I hope everyone had an amazing Thanksgiving and will have just as wonderful Christmas. Alway remember the 'Reason for the Season'!!

My Cameo Silhouette Projects...so far.

I recently purchased a Silhouette Cameo and was so intimidated by it that I didn't even open the box for 2 months!  I don't even know half of the stuff it is able to do but have been having so much fun playing with it. I have learned a few cool things though, like how to make unique tags and stickers (that match my business cards) for my shop, how to make cute little pill boxes, (that I handed out at the Haven Conference with chocolate in them) and how to make really cool vinyl lettering for signs. I love the look of old windows so I have created several 'window signs' to sell in my booths.

I have a whole pintrest page dedicated to all the projects I want to do including super cute Christmas tags, vintage recipe cards and gift card boxes. Here are a few pics of my recent creations.

These are the boxes I made to take to the Haven Conference. I attached my biz card and put chocolates in them.

I made at least 125 and STILL ran out!

Here are the matching stickers my friend Colleen, at Sweet Sosbee Designs, made for me before I got my machine. She is super talented so check her out for all your invitation/party needs.

I used twine to close up the boxes-didn't want the chocolate falling out!!

Here is one of the old window signs-Eat Local!

A phrase coined by Sara, at Sweet Magnolias Farm is one of my favorites! I am in LOVE with her etsy shop and carry a lot of her items in my booths.

Paris Flea Market window
 I am contemplating opening an etsy shop within the next year but not sure I will have the time or energy to do that AND both of my booths...(a possible third in the works too..shhhh). I am not sure these would ship very well either. I am now working on a "..it is Well...with my Soul" window and a vintage one for the laundry room.

If you are interested in placing a custom order just message me on facebook, SkyBluPink Creations or email me at SkyBluPinkCreations@gmail.com.

I am having SO much fun with my new Cameo....are you inspired to get one??

I sometimes party with these peeps!

Annie Sloan Chalk Paint {Burlap Hutch-Old White}

I am so glad I love what I do. Although sometimes it is quite exhausting trying to keep up with things, I wouldn't change it for the world. I could never imagine going back into the corporate world and being a 9-5'er. I am so grateful that my husband has been able to provide for our family, allowing me to stay home with our crazy kiddos. I have to remember every now and then to show him some gratitude and to thank him for allowing me to do pretty much whatever I want with my time. So, this weekend his brother is in town and they are going to celebrate his 40th birthday. My hubby is somewhat of a beer snob. He loves all aspects of it..how it is made, what to eat with it, what glass to use and where it is comes from. This Friday we are getting together with a bunch of friends and having a beer tasting. Well the guys will be tasting and the girls will be yapping. Then on Saturday he and his brother will be heading to an all day beer festival here in Dallas. Good luck going to a beer festival the night after a beer tasting. We will see if those 40 years have caught up with him yet!  I think I will just sit back and watch the show.  Drink up Honey, you deserve it!

Well we all have our obsessions and my latest one, for sure, is old white & burlap hutches. I love making them, I love how the burlap adds texture and rusticness to what would otherwise seem like a simple hutch. This one is quite the biggin'! It is really a 9 drawer dresser with a random hutch added to the top. Once again, I wish I was in my 'forever' house. I really love this piece and will be quite sad when it sells. My hubby always laughs at me when I pout, just a little, after something sells but this one may bring the all out tears. I know, I know kinda' ridiculous to have a business selling furniture then being upset when you do. I never said I made much sense.  I, again, being the terrible and impatient blogger that I am forgot to take before pics. Again 70's , blah, orange, blah, scratched up, blah, blah, blah...

I had this idea to do burlap hutches for quite some time. I did get some inspiration from some crazy talented bloggers that I follow. Unfortuantely it was pre-Pinterest for me and I can only find one.  Kathie at a A Few Good Pieces did an AH-mazing job on this one!

Annie Sloan Chalk Paint {Tall Boy Dresser-Coco}

This is going to be a good week. This is going to be a good week. This is going to be a good week. Okay...the power of mental persuasion is going to be my saving grace this week. As all of my other friends look forward to the lax schedules that Spring Break brings I will be setting my kitchen timer to go off every 30 minutes.  As I read all of their facebook posts journaling their families much thought out vacations, I will be, hopefully, secretly, celebrating the not so small achievements of my 7 year old. Yes, the week is finally here, I know you can just hear the unsurmounted joy in my voice, Potty Training Week! Of course I have been through this before, my 5 year old was the little overachiever. less than 3 days and he was a master. Things will be a little different this time. Things will be a little more, shall we say, interesting. As some of you know our older son, Ryan, has Down Syndrome, OCD, hyperactivity with impulsivity and was also born with a rare GI disorder that has kept us from potty training him until recently. I am not quite sure how all of this is going to play out. Do I have a game plan you ask? What self-respecting mother of a special needs child doesn't ALWAYS have a game plan??  Juice boxes, movies, lexapro and prayers. All stocked on the first 3, if you 'd like to throw a few of the latter my way it would be much appreciated;)

Okay, Coco. When first painting this piece (the brother of the meth lab desk) I was more than a little concerned after the first coat. It looked a lot like split pea soup and I was very skeptical that it wasn't going to turn out how I envisioned. Why, oh Why, did I ever doubt you Annie? I love it. I used old white as the accent color and then added clear and dark wax. Not too much dark, just enough to add some dimension and age. Sorry, I am not sure where my before pics are..I swear I took them..didn't I? Oh well, who can remember anything these days. Anyway here are some shots of the piece in my booth at Frisco Mercantile.

As mentally draining as I think this week is going to be for me I am so stoked for it to be here. (do people still say stoked?). I will be rewarded dearly for my motherly duties this week (no pun intended:). I am getting to meet Annie Sloan on Friday...whoop! I know, I am such a middle aged groupie but who cares. How lucky am I that she will be making a stop in Dallas and will be having the workshop just about 20 minutes from my house. Can't wait to get my paint on with Annie!!

Thanks for reading, here's hoping we ALL have a great week!!

Spring Burlap Wreath

I have finally gotten to figuring out how the heck to make all those gorgeous fabric flowers out there. Mine aren't quite to 'gorgeous' status but I think I did okay for the first go around. After drooling all over the most beautiful wreaths on pinterest I decided I was going to just do it! I searched the blog world for the most basic tutorial..I am all about basic. I recently discovered a blog that I absolutely adore. Ashley at lil blue boo is such an inspiration. If you are not familiar with her you really owe it to yourself to take the time, get a cup of coffee and just read through her posts. It will change you. Okay back to the wreath...here is the link to the tutorial.  http://www.lilblueboo.com/2010/11/no-sew-fabric-flower-headband-tutorial.html . I am not the best at hyperlinking yet. Work in progress..that's me. Here is my version of a burlap inspired spring wreath. I hope to do some more and make the flowers vary in size more but for now this is working for me.

I may add a burlap "SPRING" banner across the top, haven't decided yet. But for now I am happy that I finally got around to learning. I think I am going to do a small one next, put darker burlap flowers on it and center it in the middle of a white frame. Love anything burlap and white!

Pink Suitcase Table {American Girl Chest}

I have seen so many tables made out of some really cool things lately and I decided to jump on that creative train. I saw this pink chest and instantly thought it would look amazing as a table. So easy and super fun to do! Now I am obsessed with mentally turning everything into a table. I think I will be doing a bunch of these this year!

Frenchy Ceramic Tile Coasters

I have seen some tile coasters on etsy and was thinking it would be fun to make some for my sisters for Christmas. Coasters seem to be one of those things that you can never find any that are really 'you'. They are somewhat pricey and I have yet to find a set that would look great in my future, perfectly decorated living room.

I did the obligatory googling of, how to make's, and was off to Home Depot in search of my tiles. I decided on getting 2 styles. The stone tiles with the perfect imperfections and the plain slick ceramic ones..I prefer the latter. I then jumped on over to the graphics fairy and found some super cute images of french chairs, birdcages, vintage keys, etc. I printed those images on to some old gospel hymns I had and voila' frenchy theme squares. It was then onto the simple glue and adhere method. I used modge podge at first to adhere the squares to the tiles then I also covered them with several other coats. There was where it all went wrong. I have seen posts where others have done this and they said all was well with them. Not so much. After applying the coats of modge podge I sealed it with an acrylic sealer. I then proceeded to try to see if it could hold up to a hot mug..no go. The mug would always stick to the coaster. Not a great idea when using breakable tiles. I finally just decided to adhere the image squares with the modge podge but not use it as top coats. Instead I used the spray acrylic sealer as the last step. Perfect. I did 4 sets and 2 have sold already (music sheet and frenchy chairs) so here are some shots of the others I did. These make great, easy gifts at about $.25 each!

First table project...

                                       Here is a picture of my first table and chairs endeavor!
                                          Old White in all its glory with Dark Walnut stain.

Really, Really wish I had a sprayer. Took me FOREVER to paint these chairs. I love how they turned out but man way too much work. Must seriously consider this as a b-day present

Chippy, Chippy!!

Sorry...I am the worst..AGAIN forgot to take a before pic. I need to stop getting so excited when I have to paint and remember I would like to show the transformation. Trust me they look waaayyy better;)

Will be doing a set for myself very soon, just didn't want to be my own guinea pig.
